Foundations in Liechtenstein
Registered foundations from the commercial register of the Principality of Liechtenstein. Deposited foundations that are not entered in the register carry no general right of inspection and are not included here.
The foundation is the legal form that defines Liechtenstein. It is an endowed body of assets with no owners and no members: dedicated by its founder, administered by a foundation council, and serving the purpose named in its deed. The basis is the Persons and Companies Act, Art. 552 §§ 1 ff. PGR, and the minimum capital is CHF 30,000.
One Liechtenstein peculiarity matters more than any other when searching: not every foundation is in the commercial register. Private-benefit foundations that carry on no commercially organised trade are merely deposited with the Office of Justice. Deposited foundations carry no general right of inspection, appear in no public list, and are therefore not included here either. Not finding a Liechtenstein foundation does not mean you searched badly.
What is public about registered foundations is on every profile: name, register number, seat, purpose, the foundation council with its signing authority, the auditor where one is appointed, and the events from the Official Gazette from entry through to deletion. Of natural persons we show only what was officially published — name, function, manner of signing. Dates of birth and home addresses are not part of that.

Are all Liechtenstein foundations publicly visible?
No. Registered foundations are in the commercial register and are public. Private-benefit foundations carrying on no commercial trade are only deposited with the Office of Justice and carry no general right of inspection. This directory holds the registered ones only.
What is the minimum capital of a Liechtenstein foundation?
CHF 30,000, or the equivalent in euros or US dollars. It must be dedicated to the foundation when it is established.
Who runs a foundation?
The foundation council. It is the governing organ, represents the foundation externally, and is entered in the commercial register by name with its signing authority. Beneficiaries are not entered.
Where do I get an official extract for a foundation?
From the Office of Justice via handelsregister.li. Overit is not the commercial register and issues no certified extracts; only the authority gives binding information.
