FMA authorisation
The Financial Market Authority's permission to carry on a supervised financial activity.
Banks, insurers, asset-management companies, trust companies, auditors, funds and TT service providers need authorisation from the Financial Market Authority Liechtenstein. The FMA keeps a public register of them.
An entry in the commercial register is not an authorisation. The two registers answer different questions: whether an entity exists, and what it is allowed to do. On these profile pages they sit side by side, each labelled with the authority that published it.
The FMA additionally lists foreign providers operating in Liechtenstein under EEA freedom of services. They are not Liechtenstein legal entities and are not counted here.
