The official record of Liechtenstein legal entities, kept by the Office of Justice.
The commercial register of the Principality of Liechtenstein is kept by the Office of Justice. It records a legal entity's name, form, seat, purpose, capital, its organs and their signing authority, and every later change to any of them.
Every entry and every change is announced in the electronic Official Gazette. The Gazette is therefore the running, publicly accessible trace of what happens in the register — and the source this site draws its events from.

What the commercial register holds
An entity's entry names the firm, the legal form, the seat, the purpose stated in its articles, the capital, the organs by name with their signing authority and, where one is appointed, the auditor. With it comes the register number in the form FL-0001.234.567-8, which stays with the entity for life.
What the register does not hold: beneficial owners, the beneficiaries of a foundation or trust, and the holder of an establishment's founder's right. Anyone looking for those is looking in the wrong place — they are recorded separately by the Office of Justice and carry no general right of inspection.
Not every entity is registered
Liechtenstein also has deposit. Private-benefit foundations that carry on no commercially organised trade are merely deposited with the Office of Justice and appear in no public list. A trust relationship, likewise, is entered only where the law or the trust deed requires it.
This is the commonest reason a search comes back empty. An entity that is not here need not be invented — it may simply not be one the law requires to be registered.
Register, Gazette and Firmenindex
The three are often confused. The commercial register is the state of things: what holds today. The Official Gazette is the announcement: every entry and every change is published there, and from it comes an entity's trail through time. The Firmenindex is the Office of Justice's own search interface over the register.

Common questions
Is the Liechtenstein commercial register public?
Yes. The register content of entered entities is public and can be inspected through the Office of Justice's Firmenindex. Deposited foundations and beneficial-ownership data are outside that.
Who keeps the commercial register in Liechtenstein?
The Office of Justice in Vaduz. It makes the entries, announces them in the Official Gazette, and is the only body that gives binding information.
Is Overit the commercial register?
No. Overit shows what was officially published and names the source on every line. For binding or certified proof, go to the Office of Justice.
Why can I not find a company?
Either it has been struck off and is now findable under its old name only by register number, or it was never required to be registered — a deposited foundation, for instance. When in doubt search by the FL number rather than the name.
