LEI (Legal Entity Identifier)
A globally unique 20-character identifier for entities active in financial markets.
The Legal Entity Identifier is a 20-character code that names exactly one legal entity worldwide. Anyone doing reportable business in financial markets needs one.
For this register the LEI data set is particularly valuable because it carries the Liechtenstein register number with it. That makes the link between international identifier and register entry deterministic, rather than something to be guessed from name similarity.
The data comes from GLEIF under CC0. It is also the source of most events in a profile's history; every line names where it came from.
